Product description:

  • Oral rehydration salts contain sugar and various types of salts that belong to a group of medicines known as oral electrolytes.
  • It is used to replenish lost salts and fluids in order to provide short-term relief from diarrhea and prevent dehydration (loss of body fluids) that can occur as a result of diarrhea, vomiting, travel, exercise, and excessive heat.
  • Signs of dehydration include: crying without tears, less urination, drowsiness, decreased physical activity, dry mouth, and a sunken soft spot on the top of the baby's head.

Usage guidelines:

One sachet of powder to be diluted in one liter of clean water.

Children under 24 months:

  • 50 to 100 ml after each loose stool (approximately 500 ml daily).

Children aged 2 to 10 years:

  • 100 to 200 ml after each loose stool (approximately 1000 ml per day).

Children over 10 years old and adults:

  • 200 to 400 ml after each loose stool (approximately 2000 ml per day).

Warnings and precautions:

  • Speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you experience allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, rash, swelling of the face or neck, low blood pressure and dizziness.
  • If your child refuses to take rehydration salts, try substituting the medicine with water (cooled boiled water for children under one year old) or juice.
  • Speak to your doctor if he still refuses to drink any fluids.
  • Avoid feeding babies, except for breastfeeding, during the first 24 hours of diarrhea.
  • Avoid milk and solid foods for babies during the first 24 hours of diarrhea.
  • You can give your child water or juice to drink as usual if they start to feel better. Be sure to continue giving them oral rehydration salts after each loose stool.
  • Make sure to resume breastfeeding 24 hours after you feel better.
  • Your child may continue to experience some mild diarrhea for up to a month after having gastroenteritis (stomach bug infection). Be sure to follow up with your doctor.
  • Do not take oral rehydration salts for more than 2-3 days, unless recommended by your doctor.
  • Do not mix the medication with juice, milk, any other additives, or sugar. Use only water to prepare the solution.
  • Make sure to add the correct amount of water when preparing the medicine so as not to affect the balance of fluids and salts in the body.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes or liver or kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe diarrhea or are unable to drink fluids.
  • Tell your doctor if you are following a low-salt or low-potassium diet.
